Our Little Helper

Grayson has become our little "helper" around the house the last month.  Most of the time it's wonderful and actually helpful.  Other times.... well... let's just say mommy and daddy have a test of patience at times. :)  He had a stool in the bathroom to wash his hands and has started pulling it out into the kitchen.  Usually he sees something he wants on the counter, or sees us doing dishes or cooking.  Next thing we know he's coming from the bathroom saying "I got it... I got it!"  Not quite sure I was ready for him to realize the stool could help him get things because now he's finding all sorts of things we had tucked way back on the counter for him not to reach or see (i.e. stickers, suckers, etc.)  Guess mommy needs to get better about keeping things off the counters!  One thing he loves to help with now is dishes.  Of course it ends up that water gets all over him and sometimes down the counter, but at least it can be wiped easily!  This day I took pictures of him doing dishes, Will had a hard time getting any dishes to actually wash.  Grayson kept taking them from him saying "no mine!" every time Will tried to rinse a dish and put it in the drainer.  Or Grayson would keep stealing the sponge or washcloth even though he had one himself.  Basically, anything Will tried to use, Grayson decided he needed it.

He has also started to "help" cook.  Most of the time he just stands on the stool and watches.  On Superbowl Sunday we made pizza at home so Grayson got to help put the toppings on the pizza.  As you can see, he's in shorts.  It was hot that weekend... near 80.  This week is completely different and very windy with highs in the low 50's.  Of course that's still warmer than most of you, but now that we've been in AZ and GA for over a year, we have become used to the warm weather and we're rather chilly here the last couple days!

Grayson of course would put a few olives on, then eat a couple.

His all time favorite chore to do around the house it to put the silverware away! He could be playing with the iPad or eating a snack, but if we say there's silverware to put away he stops what he's doing and goes running for his stool!  As he puts them away he'll stand there saying "spoo" "for" or "knife" for each utensil as he puts it away.  He does really well sorting them too and getting them in the right places!

Best of all, he loves to help with Ryley.  There isn't much he can do, but he'll always throw away his dirty diapers for me or grab a burp cloth if I need one.  He also cares when Ryley starts crying and will try to give Ryley his binky and give him "hugs" to try and get him to stop fussing.  However, he things Ryley needs his binky even when he isn't fussy and will try to shove it in his mouth when he's fast asleep.  Thankfully, Ryley is getting more used to Grayson hugging or touching him so he doesn't wake up as easily now when Grayson goes up to him when he's asleep.  :)

It's a busy day around here with two little boys while Will's at work, but we're getting into the routine of things and I couldn't imagine our days without Ryley now.  It was definitely easier to get out the door and do things when it was just me and Grayson, but Ryley is an easy baby most of the time and I'm thankful for that! :)
