Flagstaff, AZ

We spent Presidents Day weekend in Flagstaff, AZ with a couple guys.  We rented a cabin just outside of Flagstaff and the guys went skiing on Saturday.  When we arrived Friday there was NO snow on the ground!  We were a little skeptical about the lifts actually being open because the mountain didn't look like it had much either.  However, Saturday morning we woke up a very light dusting on the ground at our cabin.  The guys headed up to the slopes and had to turn around to get chains for the car they were taking.  Flagstaff had much more snow than we had at our cabin and the mountain got tons!  It constantly snowed all day Saturday and this was the first picture I took when the ground at the cabin was covered in white.  By the end of the day there was probably a foot of snow on the ground if not more!  Grayson wasn't feeling great over the weekend so Saturday he and I stayed at the cabin and he slept a lot fighting off a slight fever.  Sunday his fever was gone so we took him out sledding for a little bit.  He wasn't too thrilled with his snowsuit since he couldn't move easily and didn't like not being able to use his hands.  He wasn't so sure about going down the hill with us either.  We managed to get him out for a second time later in the day, but he didn't last long without whining!  He continued to not feel great and even today has had a little upset tummy.  Unfortunately, the washer at the cabin didn't work and after getting ALL his pants messed from his tummy bug we managed to get home just in time before his last pair of semi-clean pants got dirty!  As always though, he seems to be in a good mood today despite feeling out of sorts!  Hopefully tomorrow is better and Will and I don't get the same bug!  Despite some frustrations over the weekend, we had a fun time getting Grayson up to the mountain to experience his first time in snow before winter was over! :)  I posted video of sledding before this so check them out and let me know if they don't play.  I had to post them a different way than usual.  Hope they work for you!

Grayson on Saturday :(

Enjoyed the snow when Daddy would build snowball towers for him to knock over

Garden Canyon

We went out to Garden Canyon yesterday to take one year photos.  My friend Anna and her daughter Julia went with us.  Luckily we found a nice spot with a stream... the first time I've seen running water since November I think!... and there was an old playground as well with a merry go round.  The kids had a lot of fun being outside and in the sun.  So did Anna and I! These are just a few of the photos I took of Grayson and Julia yesterday.

Painting party!

Grayson has found many "girlfriends" here in Sierra Vista.... watch out Brooklyn!  You've got some competition!  On Friday some friends came over so the kiddos could paint "Valentines".  While a couple of them have painted with pudding, Grayson seemed to be the "experienced" one in the bunch... at least he thought so!  The girls were.... well... girly and didn't like getting paint all over.  Juju resorted to using a paintbrush.  Grayson on the other hand was very much a boy and was ALL OVER the paint!  I figured it was just as easy to have the kids on the floor since there were 4 and only 2 high chairs.  Good thing we have linoleum floors!  The girls pretty much stayed in their one little area and Grayson crawled all over the place!   90% of the mess you see if probably from him!

If taking over the girls paintings wasn't enough... he decided that they weren't dirty enough either and tried to paint a few of them like Julianna below.

He liked to "highjack" the girls paintings and show them how to do things.

Eventually he decided that paper wasn't needed and that he could use his belly as a canvas too!

Needless to say, all the kiddos except the littlest one was in need of  a bath!  Of course they ended up turning the water pink with how much paint was on them and left a night pink ring around my tub.  They all had fun though and next time they'll have to find something else to get dirty in and Grayson can once again show these prissy girls that "dirt don't hurt" :)
