Sea Turtles

On Jekyll Island, there is the Georgia Sea Turtle Center where injured sea turtles are taken care of until they can be released back into the wild.  Grayson really enjoyed seeing the turtles and refers to it as the "turtle house" when he talks about it. :)

Oh!  And on a side note.... my aunt asked if Grayson was still calling Grandma "Papa".  We are happy to announce that while my mom was here it took about a week, but he's now calling his grandma's "Gramma" rather than "Papa"!

Their largest one at the center was missing his front flipper :(

They give the turtles food frozen in ice blocks to get them to practice swimming around.

There's also a small nature center that we went to on Sunday since it was raining in the morning.  Gray could touch a few of the things like hermit crabs.

Driftwood Beach

By the condo where we stayed, there was Driftwood Beach.  As you can tell by the pictures, it got it's name because of all the trees and driftwood washed up along the shore.  It was amazing to walk along the beach and see these trees just laying there!  Grayson didn't give much notice to the trees.  He was just happy with his shovel and pail and wanted to stop every 5 feet to dig in the sand.  Thursday night when we got to the condo it was dark and he was wanting to go play in the sand anyway!  This beach was very neat to go to and as you can tell it was a cloudy and windy day.  Thankfully, it wasn't too cold and the rain stayed away!

Grayson got to see his first sand dollar

"hug.... cold!"  Grayson said :)

Seagull flying above my head thinking Gray's sand toys were food

"ohhhh no!"  The frisbee broke when Will threw it and it hit the sand

Jekyll Island

For the long Presidents Day weekend we spent it down at the beach on Jekyll Island.  Will's aunt and uncle have a condo there and were so gracious to let us use it for the weekend.  Jekyll Island is just over an hour south of Savannah so it was great to have just a short drive to get away on a little vacation.  The weather wasn't as nice as it has been , but then again it is winter. :)  It was cloudy/rainy the entire weekend, but we got lucky and it rained mostly at night and we did manage to see sun come out Sunday afternoon and stick around through Monday.  These are just some of the pictures from our weekend away.  I'm putting more pictures in different posts like the zoo and ones to Driftwood Beach.

Our boil we shared one night for dinner of shrimp, crawfish, crab, sausage, potatoes, & corn

Hello little crawfish!
Sunday afternoon we took advantage of the warm weather and sun and went over to St. Simon's Island to walk around and have dinner.

St. Simon's Lighthouse

We haven't started carrying around the double stroller yet since I usually just carry Ryley on me, but Gray did great sitting on the front end when he would get tired since we stuck Ryley's car seat in his spot. :)

One of the stores had bubbles and wands out for kids to play with.  Gray of course loved it and we had a very sad, pouty boy when we told him it was time to put them down so we could keep walking and get some dinner.

Anytime we asked if he wanted a treat after eating his dinner well, he'd always say "Ice cream shop.... ice cream shop".  Jekyll Island didn't really have an ice cream shop other than DQ.  However, on St. Simon's we found a shop and it even had a train like the ice cream shop by our house has!  Grayson was so excited to be able to get his rainbow ice cream and watch the train up above.
