Forsyth Park

On Saturday we had decided to go to downtown Savannah because there's a farmers market at Forsyth Park.  Once we got there we were in for a surprise! Of course I usually bring the camera everywhere... but chose not to this day!  Bad mistake!  The park was full of people because SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) was having a sidewalk art show.  Students and Alumni were given a sidewalk block and chalk to do their own drawing.  It went through the entire park and there were judges for later in the day to pick winners.  Along with the sidewalks lined with artists starting their "masterpieces" there were also food vendors and a children's area set up.  They had some games and art projects for kids to do.  When they finished they got some sidewalk chalk and a clown nose... which is what you saw Grayson wearing in the previous post. :)  We stayed for a bit, but by the time we left after lunch people were still hard at work on their artwork and none were finished.  We talked about coming back the next day to see all the finished products.  We hadn't though so I went back on Monday with the camera to take some pictures of some of the ones we saw being drawn.  Sadly, most of them were washed away! :(  It hadn't rained, but it looked like they were purposefully washed off the long walkway with a hose and then the sprinkler system took care of the rest on the smaller walkways.  The only place untouched by water was the small stretch of sidewalk between the two playgrounds.  I took a few pictures of the ones that were still intact.  It amazes me how talented people are!  There's no way in a million years I'd be able to create something like these with just some chalk!

After the boys and I walked around, Grayson wanted to play in the fountain and of course I hadn't thought about bringing some dry clothes for him!  By the time he played on the playground though and we ate some lunch he was almost dry for the drive home! :)

Sunday, we went over to Verizon since Will was up for a new phone.  After his time in the field the last two weeks, he found many more opportunities he could use an iPhone so as his birthday present he got himself one.  Of course I like to "steal" it and use the camera on it!  Now I won't have to worry about not bringing my camera like I did on Saturday because his new phone has such a good camera on it as well and I can still get pictures in those times I forget one! :)  Here's some pictures I took as I was playing around with his phone.

Watching a movie on the iPad while waiting for surgery

Will's a Cochise College grad!  His course in Tucson got him enough credits to get his AA from Cochise and his diploma just came in the mail. :)

I'm so happy to be in a town with a wonderful farmers market!  I missed our markets in Tacoma, WA while in AZ.  I love all the variety of produce we can get at the one here in town!

Just Having Fun

Well, looks like summer is on it's way.... or already here for us in GA!  The weather continues to stay warm and now that we're used to the heat our week of 70 degrees almost seemed a little chilly!  I can't believe I have become one of "those" people that I used to chuckle at when they'd say it was cold at 60 degrees when 60 in the NW seems like shorts weather!  We found Grayson a new pool for the backyard since the one we had from AZ had numerous leaks we found when filling it up a month ago while my sister was here.  It fits well on the cement at the bottom of the back steps and we're just covering it with a tarp at night so we don't have to keep filling it up.  Hopefully it lasts us through the summer since it's a blow up one!  Grayson loves to get in it though and cool off :)

Grayson had his outpatient surgery on Tuesday to get tubes placed.  All went as planned and it only took about 10 minutes for the surgeon to do.  The most frustrating part was having to be there at 5:30 when the surgery didn't happen till 7:30!  Ended up waiting in a small little room for over an hr, but thankfully the iPad seems to keep Grayson entertained and he did well waiting there.  Will took the day off as well which was wonderful.  I don't know how I would have managed both the boys on my own there for that long!  Grayson did NOT like going with the nurse back to the O.R. room and fought her the whole way.  I'd definitely say that's the hardest part being a parent is hearing/watching your child scream and cry for you because they don't understand what's going on.  :(  He was ready to get out of that hospital though and was back to his normal silly self within an hour or two after surgery!  The surgeon said that the one ear that the previous tube had fallen out a couple months ago was already filled with gunk and it's looking like he'll need tubes for the next few years.  Not something I wanted to hear, but at least we've been through it and it's a simple procedure!  After surgery we stopped to grab a couple things while we were up in Savannah and Grayson saw a bird house that he could paint.  The kid loves to paint so we got that for him and he spent a good 30 minutes painting every inch of that bird house when we got home! :)

He had gotten a clown nose at the park last Saturday and insisted on wearing it while he painted. :)

Ryley had his turn with the nose too.... wasn't too sure what to think!

The boys coughs are getting better thankfully, but Grayson is still fighting a runny nose.  I'm wondering if I should get him back in to the doctor to talk about possible allergies and seeing if allergy medication might help!  Still waiting for Ryley to figure out how to roll over, but he's doing better at tummy time and playing on the floor mat.  I'm sure it'll be any day now that he figures out how to start rolling!

4 Month Pictures

I finally got around to taking some pictures of Ryley.  I meant to get them done while he was 3 months, but it turned out I finally took some the day he turned 4 months old!  Whoops!  Like I mentioned in the previous post, Ryley is fighting a double ear infection right now, but as you can see in the pictures below he's quite a trooper and doesn't show any signs of feeling "under the weather"!  I've stuck a couple of Grayson's 3 month pictures beside Ryley's to compare their features.  All the ones of Ryley are with him in a white onesie with an elephant applique.  Like my friend Mel said the other day, the too of them look SO much alike.... yet so different!

I'll be getting Ryley in soon for his 4 month appointment.  Just holding off till he clears up from this cold and ear infection.  I'm anxious to see how he falls on the growth chart!  I can't believe he's 4 months already!  Time sure goes by quickly!
