| A little caterpillar fell down my shirt as they kids were playing. Grayson actually let it crawl on his hands.... only for a minute... before he was ready for the caterpillar to get off! :) |
On Tuesday, we headed downtown and took a trolley ride to Forsyth Park. This way the girls could learn some things about Savannah, and could see more of downtown rather than walking everywhere. They had a fun time playing with Grayson at the park and we enjoyed a picnic lunch on the big lawn before getting back on the trolley.
| Grayson decided it was his turn to read "Good Night Pookie" to us. |
Wednesday we went to Hilton Head, SC. It's only about an hour away from us. Grayson hasn't liked going near the water since this summer. He had decided all of a sudden on our trip to Myrtle Beach that the water was scary. Therefore, I didn't pack a swimsuit for him and just brought a change of clothes for him once he was done in the sand. I guess the girls had the magic touch because he went right on out with Deanna and the girls and started jumping in the waves! He did great staying by the girls while playing in the sand, but would run on out there at the chance with whoever offered to go! It was great to see him having fun in the ocean again! It makes it all that much more fun thinking about going to the beach as a family throughout the spring and summer! :) The girls tried to build a sandcastle and of course Grayson wanted to "help". Good thing they weren't too worried about a "finished" product since Grayson loves to knock down the sand! At one point they had a big hole in the sand which Grayson found fun to sit in and play with the water that was sitting in it. Ryley enjoyed his time at the beach too and hung out in the shade of an umbrella or napped most of the time.
Thursday was another trip to the park while I stayed home and waited on the painters that were coming to paint/stain the porches, rails, and carport. They found goslings with the mommy and daddy geese while feeding the ducks that day. It was another hot day as well so I set up Grayson's kiddie pool for the kids to cool off in after lunch! Ryley even got to dip his toes into the water to cool off. :) Then on Friday we went to Grayson's art class at the train museum downtown, out to lunch, and walked around the open air market for the girls to find a momento for their trip. I didn't have my camera that day and my sister took pictures. Just waiting to get pictures from her of that day so those will be posted another time!
Then on Friday we went to Grayson's art class at the train museum downtown, out to lunch, and walked around the open air market for the girls to find a momento for their trip. The steam engine is now out for the train rides and Grayson wasn't too sure about the loud noise it makes, but he got on the train for a ride without a fuss thankfully! After the train ride, the kids got to have a turn on the hand car and go on a short track. The girls got a turn on their own to see how fast they could go after Grayson took a ride with them. He didn't seem to mind having to hang on to the side bar during the ride since he was too short to hang on to the handle going up and down.
We had a great time with them last week and were sad to see them go! Grayson now knows who Katelyn and Mia are when I talk about them and as I was going through pictures he was sitting here saying "KK... Mia... beach". He had a great time with his big cousins! As I look at the last picture of Ryley, it feels like it was just a short time ago that Katelyn was his size! Can it really be 12 years already?! I know my sister is saying the same thing! However, no matter how cute and adorable Ryley is, and how much fun Grayson is now that he's chattering away, she didn't leave with "Baby Fever" and the urge to have another kid. :) I used to see these nieces every month or two when I lived in WA and now it's been a year since I saw them last. Amazing how much they have grown! Just makes me realize all that much more how I need to cherish these years I have with my boys and not be so quick for them to grow up! I love having Ryley's little baby cheeks to kiss on and hearing Grayson say "snuggle mommy?? I wuv you mommy!"
